Hamilton

The Waikato region is centrally located, approximately 90min drive from Auckland, Tauranga and Rotorua.

The mighty Waikato River runs through the region. At 425km from end to end, it is the country’s longest river. As well as providing recreational opportunities, the river drives eight hydro dams.

The Waikato region is a diverse region of lush green hills, bush and farmland, stunning surf beaches at Raglan, and magical limestone glow-worm caves at the underground world of Waitomo. The region's hub is the city of Hamilton - a vibrant city of parks and gardens, fine cuisine, cafés, culture and attractions. The city is also known nationally for its education and scientific research institutions.

Where better to host Rugby World Cup 2011 than in New Zealand, the spiritual home of Rugby. And where better to see the matches than in a grass-roots stadium in a country where Rugby is a way of life.
