Napier
Napier is situated on the east coast of the North Island in the Hawke’s Bay region. The region is known for its diverse landscape, bountiful produce, award-winning wines, unique wildlife, stunning architecture and rich cultural heritage.
With its Mediterranean-like climate, Hawke’s Bay is the second largest wine-growing region in New Zealand. There are over 70 vineyards in the region, and over 40 have cellar doors offering visitors the opportunity to sample excellent quality wines. Many also offer indoor/outdoor dining.
Hawke’s Bay is home to the world’s most concentrated collection of Art Deco architecture. This was developed in the 1930s after a major earthquake devastated the area. Guided tours of Napier’s Art Deco treasures are available, and strolling through Hastings’ Spanish Mission designed buildings is a delight.
Hawke’s Bay is also famous for its artisan gourmet foods and glorious beaches that stretch from Mahia Peninsula in the north to Porangahau in the south.

Where better to host Rugby World Cup 2011 than in New Zealand, the spiritual home of Rugby. And where better to see the matches than in a grass-roots stadium in a country where Rugby is a way of life.
